Regulatory Program for Veterinary Supplement Industry

Basic Sports & Equine Nutrition Ltd. welcomes the government regulatory program for the veterinary supplement industry introduced in early 2012: Interim Notification Pilot Program (INPP) for Low Risk Veterinary Health Products (LRVHP) not intended for food, for use in cats, dogs and horses.

This voluntary program will be administered by North American Compendiums (NAC) and provides that a ‘notifier’ (such as our company) to apply for notification numbers. NAC will determine if a submitted product meets the requirements as established by Health Canada. Notification Numbers (NN) will be issued for those products that qualify.

Once a product is approved, we will attest to quality of the product and strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices.

Health Canada has developed a List of Substances and guidance documents for labelling requirements and health claims, and will audit the program as required.
